Tohatsu
Outboard Fuel Consumption
Many
people naturally want to know what kind of "gas
mileage" they can get using their outboard.
Outboard gas consumption is expressed in time not
distance.
We've
put together the chart below to help you determine
what type of fuel consumption you can expect
from your Tohatsu outboard. Please remember
though, all figures are approximate.
There
are a great deal of factors that affect the
amount of fuel consumption and therefore the figures
listed below will not necessarily be what you will
obtain. Factors such as weight, hull shape, hull
condition, water conditions, etc. may drastically
affect the consumption figures shown below.
The
only true way of determining your individual fuel
consumption is to perform your own fuel consumption
"test". Take one gallon of fuel and
run your outboard at wide open throttle until you
run out. The time it takes to use the entire gallon
of fuel is your individual fuel consumption amount
and would be considered the shortest time you could
go without running out of gas.
Now
do the same thing but vary the speeds from idle to
wide open throttle. In other words, use the outboard
like you normally would. You will now know the shortest
time you can use your outboard before running out
of gas and the average or normal time it will take
you to run out of gas.
The
following chart shows the approximate fuel consumption
of each model:
